The 2007 Rebel Nationals were hosted by the Awosting Yacht Squadron with lots of ...
...

... very friendly help from their lovely community.
...

Regatta Chair, Bill Selick (l) and Fleet Captain, George Vurno, were two of the main movers
behind this year's very enjoyable Nationals.
...

Defending champion, Dave Nickels (l), needs no words to clarify his attitude to the PWCs before him. Measurer, Bob Zimmer, meanwhile, confirms that they certainly don't measure in!
...

Regatta headquarters was on the fine, airy upper floor of the Awosting Boat House, which not only provided a great panoramic view of our sailing venue, Greenwood Lake, but also a nice. refreshing breeze on the hot summer days even when there was nothing stirring at water level.
...

The price that Jim Quiniff (l) and Mike Stoodley had to pay for borrowing Nick Tanis's Rebel for this event was ...
...

... giving her bottom a good scrub.
...

What water-side recreational area would be complete without the ice cream truck and its musical lures?!
...

Measurer, Bob Zimmer, checks his records.
...

Rose Steele (l), our Principal Race Officer, and Marie Bryan "man" the registration desk.
Marie is an avid sailor and often crews for her husband, Paul, on their Rebel.
...

Having duly launched and been given a "handicapped spot" right near the ramp for his boat,
my skipper, Dan Hockenberry and wife, Cheryl relax upstairs.
...

The registration committee remains on duty. Note the choice of dark blue or white regatta T-shirts waiting to be picked up.
...

Neil Robb (r) and crew, Nick Tanis (centre) prepare to launch Last One.
...

Joe Stoodley (on deck) is hard at work, supervised by daughter, Theresa, and Jim Miller.

View of the south end of Greenwood Lake from the Boat House: the waters look deceptively flat but winds were gusting to well over 15 knots and caused the scheduled Juniors' races to be postponed 'til Monday morning. - click here for full-size pic

There is a very nice little beach and swimming area right beside the Boat House, the perfect spot for mothers with young kids.
